Shasta Lake and Caverns near the California and Oregon border. This is a wonderful area. The lake spans over a large area around the I-5 freeway. I spent a few hours over the area. The caverns are buried inside the mountain at about 800 ft. I took a boat across the lake and then a bus up along a narrow, rocky road leading to the caverns. It's an amazing experience inside the cave, as you can use your imagination from the following photos. Nature's wonders were only revealed to us after some brave people went through the hardship and discovered the caves. Their names were marked on a stone some 200 years ago.
